Sponggo and Pupu: Brush and Tutorial (Huge) Challenge
Correction: That's Sponggo© by Paulo©
Painter Forum, In Depth Discussions

This painting, "Sponggalien©" (copyright added in keeping with Paulo's Sponggo© brush) was done entirely with Paulo's Sponggo© brush. For the background, I used the brush without altering the settings except maybe to adjust the brush size. The character was painted after adjusting Color Variability's Hue slider to 27%. Then I painted most of it using a single color from the Color Picker, a fully saturated deep pink. To add darker areas, I moved the value down to almost black and for both light and dark areas, I adjusted the Opacity up and down. In addiiton, I changed the brush size frequently, but painted the bulk of the figure using a single size. (Scroll down to see "Sponggalien©" before some final adjustments to the eyes and other small areas, then the "pink clouds" were painted.)

In case you haven't read this on my other pages:

Paulo has posted a most marvelous tutorial along with his Challenge. To take a look, and participate, go to In Depth Discussions, scroll down the page and click Painter to enter the Painter Forum, then look for the message thread named "Sponggo and Pupu: Brush and Tutorial (Huge)". If you don't see it listed, at the top of the page on the right side, choose the number of days' messages you want to display. This one was posted by "paulobr" (Paulo) on 1/31/2002.

Don't miss it! It's a lot of fun!

NOTE: In late February 2002, IDD suffered a crash and we lost everything. You won't find Paulo's original tutorial and all of his images, but if you do a Search in the (now named) Painter Can forum for Sponggo you should find at least one thread containing some of the images Paulo and the rest of us posted in the original "pre-crash" thread.
