PLAY WITH IMPASTO BRUSHES - "WILD"
This painting is the result of a few minutes play one evening in early April with some of the new brushes in Painter 6. I began by working down the list of Impasto brushes one at a time, picking various colors at random and making equally random brush strokes. The suggestion of a face appeared on the left side of the canvas and I added details to create facial features. Somehow the nose ring seemed fitting for such a wild look.

Later, I shared the painting on an e-mail list, referring to it as a self-portrait that might demonstrate my state of mind after a major plumbing job at my house. The repiping was to have taken one week in early June and instead took seven weeks, until nearly the end of July. One of the list members said I looked "aghast".

(Maybe it's good to be careful what we paint, lest it become reality. ;o)
