On the following pages, you'll see three versions of this photo, enhanced by me using Painter 8, along with a brief description of the processes used. Clearly this beautiful photo doesn't need enhancement but since Lance allows us, it's fun to see what else can be done with a good photo.

A little about the photographer and his wife:

I met Nancy, who is Lance Rivera's wife and a photographer as well, at Digital Nuts, a group that does enhancements to photos using filters and other features found in various software applications. Nancy is one of the owners/moderators at Digial Nuts and, in their collection of stock photos, are a large number generously shared by Lance for members to use. I chose this one because it has an abstract quality and contains such wonderful textures, shapes, and curves. In addition, the color and lighting are soft and beautiful and I found them very appealing.

Nancy shared with me the story of how and where this photo was taken and maybe you'll find it interesting as I did:

She and Lance live in Alaska. Each year, on the 4th of July, their town has a race to the top of
Mt. Marathon, over 3,000 ft. Just a few weeks before the race, Lance climbed the mountain and shot the photo up near the top.

Wouldn't it be nice to have been there with him!
