for Painter 5/5.5, Painter 6, and Painter 7
.
Page 1 - Using Bevel World

Plain blue Shape with Bevel World applied:

Objects palette, Dynamic Layers section, Bevel World Plugin.

If you need to learn how to create a Shape, click here.

To get this effect, use the settings shown in Sample 1.

Note: This method might be adapted for...
WATER DROPS or TEARS.

SAMPLE 1. BEVEL WORLD SETTINGS USED TO APPLY
BALLOON EFFECT TO A SHAPE

.

Plain blue Shape with Bevel World applied using Pattern Reflection

Objects palette, Dynamic Layers section, Bevel World Plugin.

The Reflection was added using the Painter 5 Pattern named Quilt.rif. Experiment with various Patterns to see how they look. Make your own Patterns from any image or texture to get a special effect like a rock, for instance.

To get this effect, use the settings shown in Sample 2.

Note: This method might be used for...
CHOCOLATE CANDY or **GEMSTONES**.

SAMPLE 2. BEVEL WORLD SETTINGS USED TO APPLY
BALLOON EFFECT TO A SHAPE

In this sample, note that the inner curves of the Shape are maintained upward to the top of the cliff. On the following page, the same basic Shape is used but with applied Lighting as well as different Bevel World settings and Reflection Pattern. The result is a smoother, more rounded "balloon" Shape.
